GHOST WITH HUMOR Most ghosts and spirits can manipulate electronic devices with ease and apparently making phone calls is on that list. I have two personal experiences that I would like to share with you and then stories from others that I believe you will find very intriguing. When I lived at the house I was at before this one, one of the resident ghosts I had in the house – a young teenage boy, used to call my sister and leave blank messages on her voice mail. The even stranger thing was that my voice mail would get the message too. It was like he wanted to leave me proof that he called. When I would listen to my voicemail, I would hear a dial tone, then I’d hear the numbers being dialed. There would then be the ringing sound and my sister would answer saying hello. No one ever responded so she would say hello again before hanging up. It began to happen a few times a week, especially when no one was home at my house. I would start to hear my sister saying, Is this your phone again? Then laugh before hanging up. She knew I had a ghost in the house. My sister died about a year after that. One night, her phone dialed me and when I answered, I heard it ringing like I had dialed out instead. I listened and my niece (my sister's daughter) picked up the phone. My phone rang so I thought she called me but I knew something wasn’t right when I heard ringing instead. My niece thought I called her since her phone rang as well. Apparently my sister was doing the same thing that our resident ghost was doing. This was a great way to let us know that she was reaching out to us and confirming that she was ok as well as showing her sense of humor. A FATHER REACHES OUT BEYOND THE GRAVE I do a lot of EVP experiments and for a few days in a row I was trying to contact my deceased husband. The first night of the experiments, my son received a text on his cell phone from an unidentified number. The text simply said, ‘dead dad’. The next day during the EVP session – I received an EVP from what sounded like my deceased husband saying, “I love you son.” WHO ANSWERED THE PHONE? I was staying at a cottage that was owned by my best friend's grandfather and was in a fairly isolated location, but still on tracks which lead to the main road. It was very basic, but it had electricity and a boiler for hot water, although no central heating. It was a three, double bedroom property with no outhouses. There were six of us staying in this cottage one Easter weekend and we spent much of our time lazing around and visiting local sites of interest. We decided one Saturday morning to go out to the local market, calling off for a pub lunch on the way back. While sitting at the pub eating our meal, other friends of ours, who were staying in a nearby town, entered the pub and sat at our table saying they were glad that we were still here and they hadn't missed us. When asked how on earth they knew where we were, they said they had phoned the cottage where we were staying and the lady who answered the phone told them. There was no one else staying at the cottage. There was no cleaner or any other person tied to the cottage. I spent the remainder of our time there sleeping with the hall lights on and have never returned. -- Clare E. INTERCEPTED CALL I just found out that one of my phones calls the other day was from a dead lady. I was at my mom's house and I was calling a friend who lived nearby. She was at her cousin's house so I looked up the number in the phone book. It was the only "Owens" in the phone book, so I knew it was my friend's cousin's number. I called and it didn't even ring, but an old lady answered. She said, "Hello." I asked, "Is Amelia there?" (Amelia is my friend Jessica's cousin.) The old lady said, "No, dear. Amelia isn't here, sweetie. I should be expecting her any minute now." So I thought nothing of it and hung up. I thought they left for a bit. I knew Amelia lived with her mom at her grandparents' house. What I didn't know is what I found out when I talked to Jessica. I told Jessica about it and she said, "Amelia's grandma is dead. And we were there all day long. We were sitting right by the phone. It never rang all day." -- Crystal S. MONEY IS USELESS HERE One of my clients related this story to me a few years ago. At the time she worked for the Department of Social Services and one of the services she offered was checks for emergency expenses. She had issued a check for $100 to one of her clients for utilities and was about to close the file when her phone rang. On the line was the woman to whom the check was issued. The woman sounded vague and distracted, but clearly said, "I won't be needing that $100 after all." My client made a note of it and went on with her other work. That evening at home she was reading the newspaper when she saw the obituary of the woman she had talked with on the phone. She had died the previous day! - Mary B. TRAIN CRASH GHOST A commuter train collided with a freight train. One of its male passenger’s, died on impact around 4:00 p.m. that day, along with many others. Rescue teams were searching for bodies. The man's cell phone called several members of his family such as his brother, sister, son, step-mother and his fiancee. The only thing they heard when they answered was static. They tried returning the calls but that only led to his voicemail. The calls were very helpful as it lead the rescue workers to the location of the man's body which took approximately 12 hours before it was discovered. An hour before they found him, the mysterious calls stopped. They rescue workers never did find his cell phone. BURIED WITH HER CELL PHONE A man claimed his deceased wife was haunting him by text message. She was buried with her cell phone. The texts would contain relevant words that she would text to him often, but there would be no phone number to accompany the strange texts. His entire experience begin with a missed call from his own number, and the scent of his wife’s perfume. A FINAL GOODBYE A young woman named Mary received a call at her home from her cousin Shirley. Mary was shocked when she heard Shirley's voice on what sounded like a bad connection. She was shocked because only minutes before Shirley's phone call, Mary had received a phone call from her aunt informing her of Shirley's tragic death in a car accident that happened just an hour ago.
